FEATURING PATRICK HOUSTON – Hundreds of protesters gathered near New York City Hall on Thursday to demand that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his Department of Environmental Conservation oppose a pipeline that will transport fracked gas. Protesters are demanding that Cuomo, who five years ago banned hydraulic fracturing operations in the state of New York, also oppose this pipeline.

The proposed Williams pipeline would transport fracked gas from Pennsylvania’s shale fields under the New York Bay to Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island. Not only are local activists worried about the toxic chemicals that would be dredged up as the pipeline is laid, but about the climate impacts of expanding fossil fuel infrastructure.
