FEATURING DURREL DOUGLAS – Among the impacts of the recent Postal Service upheaval is the right to vote of jailed Americans. At any given time there are hundreds of thousands of Americans who are held in pre-trial detention in County jails across the country and during election season those Americans are still eligible to vote. Now, ahead of an election where the incumbent has already promised to contest results he does not like, one group in Houston, Texas, is working to ensure that in spite of Postal Service cutbacks jailed inmates know their rights and have access to the ballot.
