FEATURING DARNELL HUNT – As the brouhaha over the Oscars being “so white” starts to die out, one wonders if the discussion on diversity in film will come up only once a year. Ensuring fair representation of people of color and women requires year-round effort and one of the institutions holding Hollywood’s feet to the fire is the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA, which issues a yearly report on the industry.

Darnell Hunt is a Professor of Sociology and African American Studies, Chair of the Department of Sociology, and the Director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA, which issues a report regularly examining diversity in Hollywood.
